The All-New Jeep Hybrid 4xe

The First Jeep Wrangler Hybrid

The all-new Jeep Wrangler 4xe is now available, and it’s the first Jeep Wrangler hybrid model developed by the company. This new release offers a unique experience that Jeep fans didn’t expect. That’s because it provides them with a plug-in electric capability that lets them drive with a gas engine or with electric motors.

These vehicles offer many advantages to drivers while having the things that Jeep fans love about their vehicles. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe works with a powertrain similar to other Wranglers’ models. Yet, it’s still an innovative driveline regarding the brand’s vehicles. Keep reading this page to know more about how these vehicles work!

How Does the Drivetrain Work?

The Wrangler 4xe gives you the best of both worlds with a 2.0L turbocharged engine and electric motors that allow you to drive without using any fuel. The gas engine is at the front of the vehicle and sends power to the transmission which consequently delivers it to the transfer case. When the power gets to the transfer case, it splits to the Dana axles and then makes the vehicle move.

The best part about this setup is that you can switch to the electric motors; one of these electric motors is directly connected to the engine while the other one is paired to the automatic transmission.

The two electric motors coupled with the traditional gas-powered engine work together to give the driver and passengers a comfortable and smooth experience.

The motor attached to the transmission gives electrical power to the driveline by replacing the transmission’s torque converter. That way, the back motor supports the front one by providing additional power to the transmission.

Bottom Line

As you could see, this driveline is a modern and sophisticated alternative for Jeep fans looking for a hybrid vehicle. However, working with electric motors doesn’t mean that it has less power. This Jeep provides you with all the features traditional gas-powered Jeeps offer and more, so it’s definitely worth considering.
